Struggling with Nurse Delegation? Achieve Seamless, Compliant Care

You care deeply about your residents and staff, but let’s face it—managing nurse delegation in senior living is high-pressure work. Frequent staff turnover, daily emergencies, and ever-changing state regulations create constant challenges, leaving gaps in training, supervision, documentation, and compliance that put your community at risk during surveys.

Every day feels overwhelming, with caregivers unsure if they’re allowed to perform tasks, paperwork piling up, audit readiness hanging by a thread, and the stress of potential citations or compromised resident care weighing heavily. Turnover disrupts continuity, emergencies demand immediate attention, and inadequate delegation solutions leave your team guessing—while families expect consistent, high-quality care and your bottom line feels the strain.

That’s where our RiseDelegation service comes in. We deliver a complete, coordinated team—including a dedicated RN who knows your residents, an admin for smooth scheduling, a records specialist for audit-proof documentation, and an always-available rep—so you get 100% state compliance, seamless care for rising-acuity residents, confident caregivers focused on what matters most, and predictable flat rates as low as $99 per resident, transforming challenges into reliable, safer care every day.

Frequently asked questions

Every healthcare professional has their own scope of practice — basically the list of tasks they're legally allowed to do based on their license and training. That goes for doctors, RNs, nursing assistants, caregivers, lab techs, you name it.

Nurse Delegation is the legal way a Registered Nurse (RN) can supervise and pass certain nursing tasks (like medication administration, simple wound dressing, etc.) to a trained caregiver or other team member who wouldn't normally be allowed to do them on their own.

The RN stays responsible for making sure everything is done safely, but this teamwork approach lets caregivers help with more things under the RN's guidance.

Without delegation, every single one of those tasks would have to be done directly by an RN — which would be really hard and very expensive (and often not possible) in places like homes, assisted living, or adult family homes.

In Assisted Living and Memory care your current rate includes reimbursement for nursing services like OnitRN’s Nurse Delegation, but we do not bill medicaid separately.

For Family Homes we are contracted with medicaid and can invoice medicaid residents directly.

This varies between adult family homes and assisted living. Your resident does need to be stable and predictable and meet a couple key criteria. If you are not sure you can always reach out - we are happy to assess your resident at no charge!

Tasks that are sterile, Injectable (besides insulin), or require nurse judgement are never delegatable. These are best handled by your staff Nurse for the best care of your resident.

This varies from state to state. Some states require delegation specific training before a resident can be delegated, other states only require basic med management certifications.

We work with you in order to make sure your caregivers have the correct training in order to meet and exceed state expectations.

Yes, delegated caregivers work under the ongoing oversight and license of the overseeing registered nurse (RN). Without RN oversight staff is unable to complete the tasks that were previously delegated.

OnitRN works to turn all documentation in 2 business days. Documentation can be emailed directly to your managing member (DON, ED, Owner, etc.) or you can opt to have your RN take care of the documentation and paperwork, in this case they will deliver the paperwork on their next visit to the community

Getting staff and residents delegated is a primary concern for your RN, typically your turn around is 24 -48 hours, but you may also request a telehealth onboarding which can usually be completed same day.

Your nurse will typically check in every other week, more if you have requested new residents to onboard or staff to be trained.
